do the wristbands wilson makes for tennis support your wrist?
i think this is a misconception held too long even by those playing tennis for some time. these terry wristbands (wilson's and any other brands) are just towel sewn to fit on your wrist. their main (and only) function is to absorp sweat from your upper arm and hand to prevent it dripping down to your racquet grip, helping the palm in dry condition to enhance gripping the racquet. that is, assuming your palms don't sweat. this towel can also be useful to wipe sweat from your forehead and face.
on the other hand, some sporting goods manufacturers (for example nike) also made specific wristband for supporting wrist. this type of wristband cannot absorp sweat in good quantity.
