Anyone know what will remove mig weld flux spatter from vinyl such as vinyl window siding?
I had a welder over to fix a gate and notice spatter from the flux afterwards. If i cant get them to correct the mistake I will have to try and clean it. Another window is ruined coz it actually etched into the glass. On the vinyl I have tried acetone, min sprits and degreaser. Thanks for any helpful responses.
There is no easy way to clean this. The spatter is melted right into the vinyl. You could try sanding it out with a power sander, then smoothing with 220 and then 440 grit. Then, spray with some exterior clearcoat or something.
The only way to get rid of the damage to the window is to replace it.
The guys you hired are incompetent.
If they knew their business, they would have covered up the window and vinyl with a welding blanket, or at the very least some cardboard........
I work as a welder and we always cover up windows and anything else that might get damaged, before we even think of welding.
Complain to as many people at that company as you can. Ask them to replace the window and the gate. When they refuse, ask for your money back.
