Why is a full moon usually big round and orange on Halloween night ?

The full moon is just an image associated with Halloween, just like a black cat arching its back and hissing, a skeleton, a ghost flying out of a grave, or a spiderweb, or a witch, etc.
The reality is that the Moon phases do not coincide with our calendar, since it is based on the Sun and not the Moon.
I've seen just as many "clip art" things for Halloween with a witch riding a broom in front of a crescent moon. In my mind, the crescent moon is a lot more Halloween-ish, and that's what we're getting this year.
What with all the lights people turn on these days, what does it matter, anyway? You can read the fine print of your home mortgage by the light of my apartment complex at night. (really!)
Edit: When the moon IS full or nearly full, it is low in the sky at sunset, which is when the trick-or-treaters head out to get their candy. The Moon tends to have a more yellow-ish or orange-ish caste to it at this time because of atmospheric contaminants - you have more air between your eye and the Moon when it is low in the sky, so more of the dust in the air gets a chance to discolor it.
