Dreams Are Fulfilled In The Holy Land
Imagine for a moment that you have a dream. In this dream, you are in a foreign land where you are seeing things, learning things, and experiencing things that you never thought possible. Your senses are awakened and you can feel the warm air blow through your hair, the water splash on your face and warm sun permeate through your body. You are relaxed and even though there are others around you, you feel at peace with the world. You sense the history of this place, a land that “once was” and yet still bursts with the energy and pride of those days gone by.
You realize that you are in the Holy Land of Israel where people have found for their freedom and independence for milleniums. Located on the eastern Mediterranean Sea, Israel reaches from the North through the hills of Galilee to the southern coastal plains and on to the Negev Desert. Israel is the only country that has not changed its religion, language, name or nation since it was founded thousands of years ago.
A little smaller than New Jersey, Israel possesses lush valleys, amazing beaches, and beautiful mountains. The weather produces long, dry summers and winters that are short and crisp. The location of this beautiful country makes it even more enticing. Israel has become a convenient stopping place for traders and explorers through the centuries due to being situated between Africa and Asia. The land here was inhabited by farmers, nomads and shepherds before the Babylonians and Egyptians began establishing trade routes in the area. Foreign goods started to get imported into the country and Israel became a more civilized, modern country.
Israel travel offers a glimpse into the history and culture of this magnificent land. There are so many different opportunities for travel here. For example, there are Jewish tours that are specifically for Jewish people. Due to Jewish customs in regards to kosher meals and services, these tours will accommodate them and their beliefs in every way possible. There are also Holy Land Tours that will explore the land of Israel from a more Christian and historical point of view. There are Bar/Bat Mitzvah family tours where Jewish families can celebrate and commemorate this special time in their lives. Any type of group can find a tour that will accommodate them - families, churches, business groups, co-worker, and even groups of young people.
Part of your Israel dream will be to visit Jerusalem. "The City of Gold" is a term often used to refer to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel. Intertwining culture, history and spirituality are all a part of this beautiful city. Jerusalem is one of the most famous cities in the entire world, containing holy sites for all three major religions. The city was built by King David 3,000 years ago and is the place where Jesus was crucified.
The city of Jerusalem is separated into two main sections, the old city and the modern city. Of course, the old section contains more remnants of days gone by and is smaller. Most visiting done here is by walking. The four quarters of the Old City contain many points of interest for tourists. This would include the Via Dolorosa which is a trail marking fourteen places that represent Jesus’ path from his arrest to his resurrection. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Dome of the Rock, The Western Wall, the Citadel, King David’s Tomb, the Mount of Olives, and many other historical places.
In the modern section of Jerusalem, there are the government offices for Israel, such as the house of parliament. At some of the neighborhoods in the city, ultra orthodox Jews live a very sheltered, strict lifestyle. There will be a more Middle Eastern culture in some city neighborhoods inhabited by Christian Arabs or Muslim Arabs. The modern section of Jerusalem offers fine restaurants and cafes, museums, shopping malls, and other interesting places to visit.
There are some of the world’s best beaches in Israel due to its four seas: the Mediterranean, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. These provide swimming experiences, boating, fishing, and sports. The beaches in Israel are generally quite busy and offer the convenience of dressing rooms, showers and refreshments. Of course, there are many beaches, so you can figure out which one will best suit your needs depending on where you are staying and what you want to experience. Some of the beaches specialize in snorkeling or scuba, while others, like the Dead Sea, will give you a more therapeutic experience due to the high salt content in the water. You can truly spend your days in Israel just visiting beaches, enjoying the sun and water.
Your dream of visiting Israel, of course, does not need to remain a dream. There are plenty of great opportunities for visiting this historical country. There are tours that are reasonably priced and offer fun, recreation, education and the opportunity to awaken your spirituality as well.
