Should I give My Boss a Graduation Announcement?
I am graduating on May 5 and I wanted to invite my boss. I had a co-worker say that I shouldn't because it is a personal event meant for family and friends. I was thinking that maybe my boss would be offended if I didn't invite her. I consider her to be a mentor but she's not officially my mentor. What do you think?
Are you inviting your boss to your graduation? I am asking because many graduations services have a limited amount tickets (seats), usually reserved for family members. If there is not limit, I would say, sure, invite her.
Are you inviting your boss to your graduation party? Yes, invite her. She does not have to come. She may respectfully decline and send a card.
This is a big deal- a great accomplishment, you should let her know that your reached this goal.
Also, be aware that some people look at announcements like these as a way of asking for gifts. If that is not your intention, you can write inside the announcement, "No gifts, please- your presence is my gift." will be fine.
