Bride and grooms family live cross-country?
My whole family lives in Ontario, but my boyfriend's family lives in Nova Scotia. We were talking about getting married in Halifax and have looked into some really pretty locations on the ocean, or renting a large sailboat that can accommodate both the wedding and reception, but I am wondering if the wedding is so far away, will less people come? Has anyone had any experience with this? Would you ask family members ahead of time whether or not they would come? Because by the time you send out invitations, it would be too late to change the venue.
We're in a similar situation - we're having the ceremony and reception where his family lives and having a second reception for my extended family later on. For the ceremony and first reception, yes, there are a lot of people that cannot make it. When choosing a location and date, however, we did ensure that my parents and siblings would be able to attend.
I suggest checking with those closest to you (immediate family members, really close friends) to see if they would be able to make it or not. Based on their responses, you may or may not want to modify your plans. Good luck figuring everything out!
