ideas for 80th birthday greetings and simple presents for Mom?
We are having a little family party combined with another holiday---so most of the family will be there on that day--so we will do a family picture--but any ideas of some keepsake for her or different greetings that are available--I have the info on the card from the President---any others out there?
Pull together as many photos and memorabilia as possible. Enlist the help of someone who is savvy with PowerPoint and/or video making. Create a special video to show at the celebration. She'll be able to watch this again and again and will love it! If creating a video or PowerPoint is out of the question, then create a memory book.
I found this idea listed on another site: "One of the things my sister and I did for our dad's 90th birthday party: We got 90 helium balloons and had them tied in groups onto the center pieces on each table. Then at the end of the party, we all went outside, having one person from each table carry the center pieces outside with the balloons attached. Then we had our dad cut the ribbons on all the balloons and let them all go. It was quite a sight to see all those balloons in the sky. Daddy said it was the best part of his party! We also had a "picture table" where we had scattered a lot of pictures of him throughout the years for people to look through. Another table had some memorabilia from the year he was born (1911). Old coins, stamps, model cars. We found a lot of things on E-Bay that we bought that were pretty inexpensive, like some old post cards that had pictures of the little town he was from in South Dakota, etc. We just used the search mode on E-Bay."
